I recently read the
book "A man for all markets" (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25733505-a-man-for-all-markets) by Edward Thorp, who is a mathematics professor and then proved wrong
the conventional theory that it is impossible to beat the casino. After that,
he went on to become a very successful investor and trader in the stock market.
